Xuxa Rodríguez is a Smithsonian Predoctoral Fellow and doctoral candidate in Art History at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research meditates on the intersections between performance and visuality in contemporary art by AfroLatinx and Latinx artists, as well as representations of women of color in fashion and popular culture. She has served as a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellow (2016 to 2017), UIUC Graduate College Distinguished Fellow (2013 to 2016), and as a Smithsonian Latino Museum Studies Program Fellow (2014).

An activist, artist, feminist, and poet, her practice centers upon affect, bricolage, erasure, ritual, the sacred, and the sensorial as channels for spontaneous ecstatic intimacy. Her poems have appeared in White Stag, Limestone. Art. Prose. Poetry., Similar Peaks, Found Poetry Review, and Foothill.
